Infinite Column (Columna Infinita)

Many Cubans have watched friends and family risk all in emigrations by home-made boat. This has been an important theme for Kcho, one which has been developed in lithographs, drawings, sculptures and installation pieces. The column of boat gear seems to stand like a monument in precarious balance, appearing to list toward the viewer, at once representing the adaptivity and fragility typical of such journeys. The passers-by take the scene in stride.
